How is a website made?

In the "old days" of the internet (before 2000) many web pages were made using code (hard coded) and uploaded to a web server using special software. To build and update a website required an amount of "geekness".
Since 2000 Webdesign have only used special database systems (called CMS) which allow our clients to add, change and delete all digital content on their websites.

We build websites by combining a specialised design, chosen by the client, with a database system designed by us which allows a great deal of flexibility in the website's content.

The design is made available to the client on a special web address on what is called a "staging server". This will mostly require access by a password, as we don't want Google (or competitors)  finding the website before it is ready for prime time.
